How to design a mobile mockup for a non-responsive website

Hamok uses a responsive web browser to render a webpage in the templates. During our beta, several users noticed that some websites didn’t scale down in the mobile mockups.

The reason is that these websites are not responsive, so they don’t scale down to the right mobile resolution. The browser version of Facebook, for instance, is not responsive and doesn’t give a result you want to use:

In a lot of cases there is still a way to design a good looking mockup. These websites, like Facebook, often use a subdomain for mobile users (m.domain.com).

So simply go straight to the mobile version of the website, when it’s available:

Even though this is a nice quick fix, we are working on an integrated solution within Hamok, so you don’t have to worry about mobile subdomains anymore.
